Welcome to the Pursuit Project

My Interest into blogging was very shadowed and came from many directions until one day it clicked that I should start a blog about my atypical lifestyle. There were three drivers that played a part in my decision making 1) I enjoy learning what the world, particularly the outdoors, has to offer 2) I enjoy documenting my endeavors whether it be via writing or photographs 3) external (positive) pressure: I shared my writing via instagram and people said they enjoyed it and would like to see more.

I have now followed suit and have created “The Pursuit Project”. I named it “The Pursuit” originally  because a while ago, right around early 2017, I was thinking about the word ‘pursuit’ and decided I really liked it. I dabbled with the word for a long time not knowing what to do with it, but felt that it had importance so I kept it around. I eventually decided to throw it up on my Instagram bio with my own definition as “the process of achieving” and here it would wait, occasionally grabbing my attention, until now. I enjoyed how it rolls off the tongue and it’s Merriam-Webster definition of “to find or employ measures to obtain or accomplish”. I felt that that definition embodied what I was searching for, a way to obtain more knowledge, accomplish more issues and obtain a new perspective of the world. I could’ve named the blog “The Pursuit” but I don’t have an outline, a strong sense of direction in life, or a tried and true method to succeed. That’s where ‘project’ comes in. A project is constantly being built or worked on, but usually with an end-state in mind. That’s where I find myself. Continually finding ways to better myself and broaden my understanding of the world in order to narrow my ideas of where I want to  be in 5, 10, or 20 years.

The Logo comes from a spontaneous decision during a day of climbing where the three of us Guillaume, Solange and I decided to dig into our artistic sides and give each other stick ‘n’ poke tattoos. The timeline was three weeks. I doodled on sticky note after sticky note tossing the rejected ideas to the floor until a small pile of doodle debris accumulated and my great design was born. My design embodied a few general ideas: simplicity, nature, and change The four triangles represent the change of the seasons, a change over a long period of time. The sun and moon are represented high and low, a reflection of quicker day to day change. The tattoos went on as planned, each tattooing another to wrap up an incredible three weeks of being together.

I’m glad to have made this step towards a culmination of what I enjoy.  This blog will allow me to have a platform for my ideas, photography and abilities. It will allow me to document my progression, my ups and downs, grand successes and ungraceful mishaps. I will write because I want to share my adventure, I want you to be able to imagine what it is that I am describing. I can share my photography with others who will enjoy it and for those who want to see a place I have been. Perhaps I will inspire someone to take a leap and express themselves in a way that they have been sheltering. Who knows what this could lead to, maybe it will be another path that I won’t go down, maybe it will be a stepping stone to something larger.

I will add more to the blog as I write more about my previous and new adventures, things I’ve discovered in life and about whatever I feel I would like to share with you. I have no specific topics, although a personal recollection is my strong suit. I will attempt to be semi-scheduled with posts and have one every other week or so, but that could definitely change as things in my day to day life change. I would like to become a better writer and be able to keep you enamored while you follow my tales.

I’m here to share my stories with you and I hope you enjoy following me on The Pursuit Project.
